engine cutout/bog

my sled seems to cutout once and a while, its an01 summit 600, it runs perfect all the time while im on the gas, but if i try to go a steady speed it starts to cutout and bog out. it also doesnt backfire or anything lke its loading up with fuel and not sparking. its not a big deal but once and a while it can be a pain. ive replaced the stator, coil, voltage regulator,

Re: engine cutout/bog

It could be possible that there is a bad ground or bad wire in the harness to the stator or to coil.

Re: engine cutout/bog

ok ive come up with a new theory, after doing some research, i no longer have a headlight, taillight, thumb/handlebar warmers, warning lights, tach or speedo, and my digiatron keeps cutting out aswell, after talking to digatron and reading on the boondocker website they say that after taking out the headlight the voltage regulator will overload and cut out because of not having those things, would that be the reason my sled bogs....? because my digatron shuts off around the same time it starts to bog, my question is when the voltage regulator cuts out would that stop a signal to the coil? the boondocker site also says to install another regulator in a paralel circuit has anyone ever heard or done this before?

Re: engine cutout/bog

from boondocker site

Important Note: A known problem exists on some snowmobiles when the lighting system has been disconnected
(often when the hood has been removed). The voltage will be fine at an idle, but when revved up, the voltage regulator
will become overloaded and the voltage will drop, causing the nitrous solenoid to no longer work. Either reconnect the
headlight so there is enough load on it, or remove the old voltage regulator and replace it with two new regulators wired
in parallel (connect both yellow wires together). Both regulators must in good working order and be the exact same
type so they both regulate to the same voltage.

Re: engine cutout/bog

Is it possible that the voltage regulator has already been damaged?

Re: engine cutout/bog

Does your sled have a "Throttle Position Switch"... TPS? I'm not overly familiar with Doos, however, Cats have a TPS built into the hardware in the throttle block (the big chunk of plastic where you trottle leaver connects). If this TPS goes haywire the sled will cut in and out while you are squeezing the throttle back and forth... I've seen it on a few Cats in the last 10 years... hard to diagnos but a cheap fix once you find it... $60.00 about? Once replaced, the symtems you have described are cured... in my experiece.

The TPS is designed to be a safe guard in the freak occurance of parts freezing while the throttle is depressed... carb slides, throttle cables, etc. When this sensor is'nt working properly the sled will run like crap, cutting in and out sharply, not soft bogging like carb issues.

Re: engine cutout/bog

yah it seems worse, but when im on the gas it runs so awsome with the new pipe, but i went for a ride today and it was doing it but when i put the choke on it never did it again it ran perfect, so does that mean i need to increase my main jet? i thought it was an electrical problem

Re: engine cutout/bog

Yah if it goes away when you put the choke on it means that you need to jet up..
