Big Bore turbo or NOS

I have a big bore (860) kit on my XP154 with the recurved ECM from RK, with 50/50 mix it rocks pretty good and have never missed a day riding BUT Im always wanting more so my question is: can i turbo this sled with the current set up or do i need to bring the engine back to orginal and then turbo or should i consider NOS on the big bore. All day power would be nice though!

Re: Big Bore turbo or NOS

nitrous no question. there are some turbo kits that are working well on the xps. but also a 6000$ price tag. and they are not as easy to use as an electronically injected motor would be.

also

there are some machines with the 860 that will be turbod this season. but from what i last heard BB engine builders like SHR and RKT are working on a turbo big bore package. special pporting and pistons gaskets the works...specific for turboing. i cant confirm that.

drop the 1000$ on a nitrous system and that sled will rip even more.

look at other options aswell like a better suspension setup/clutching//gearing/lihtweight parts. that can really increase climbing ability.

everyone wants a turbo sled and for the xp the aftermarket RnD and kits have come along ways. some logging 3000+ miles. but in my eyes unless you are mechanically inclined and willing to do some tuning i would say stick with what you have its a good setup.

the etec is coming out and guaranteed there will be some better options in the next couple seasons for us doo guys.

Re: Big Bore turbo or NOS

suspension is a big key roll alot of people over look
can make a sled respond totally different from a stock skid.
power isnt everything unless yoursled is setup for it, doing power mods like you, i would have a full skid, different track and clutching dialed in before i thought of putting a turbo on BB.
nitrous tho, that would be on if i had a BB no ifs ands or buts. MY 2CENTS
BB for my sled are way to much for a 800cfi, so im turboing the d8 now and once that is done will be a timbersled front and rear suspension with a challenger xtreme

Re: Big Bore turbo or NOS

yeah if you are honestly looking at spending upwards of 6000. like mentioned

timbersled skid - longer challenger extreme. 2.5"

big bore - nitrous - lower the gearing - dj clutch kit - dynoport full exhaust.

would be a meeann sled.

a friend of mine has a turbo xp. dont get me wrong it rips. but when you get in the steep and deep it falls on its face and not because of the turbo...

stock skid poorly setup and wrong track selection---> challenger lite = trenching monster.

the stock 154 was outclimbing it. as soon as he got on the gas it would sink itself down to the center of the earth and go nowhere. to much power. incorrect means of transfering it to the ground.
