Apex Mtx handlebar riser

I went to the dealer i purchased this sled from and got a take-off riser off another sled. I milled it so it had the same profile as the stock riser. Added 2 7/8 inches. purchased some 8mm grade 8 threaded rod and nuts. cut the rods to lenght, screwed them into the steering post with locktight. ( there is no room under post for nuts cuz they will rub). Shazam .......approx 10 inch riser.
Total cost of riser $13.00 for rod and threadlock.

Re: Apex Mtx handlebar riser

The jog in the bottom of the top riser is for the chromed plastic cable/hose holder cover. Did the same profile on the bottom riser block.
Thanks Ric.

Re: Apex Mtx handlebar riser

Nice job, I was just looking into raising my handlebars but figured the cost was steep for a couple inches. Now I have to find a takeoff riser.

Thanks

Try some dealers, Lots of guys are putting on the monster / motion riser. Lots of the factory ones laying around. To buy one from yamaha the riser is 121.00, then you have to cut and machine it.

Re: Apex Mtx handlebar riser

The bars and riser is different on the 08 Apex than the previous year models. In 08 the made the riser taller and the bars lower. So If you have a 05 or 06 for example, you have taller bars and a shorter riser. So keep that in mind if you are planning on raising your bars. The only hold back for height is the throttle cable, the wiring is quite long.

Re: Apex Mtx handlebar riser

hey tab heard the apex has a problem where sputters or misses at 3/4 throttle, this iis or as i have been told its from to high of riser casing too much tension on the throttle cable givimg the computer wrong readings. the throttle (thumb squezzer) has a sensor in it which screws up. the dealer fixed mine but that was not the fix for my problem. i guess you just switch the wires around to make a complete circuit. just if you have that problem could be your fix due to very high riser.
