RM 250 Mods

Hello everyone, I just picked up a 1997 rm 250 that is in emaculate shape, the story behind it is a son bought it brand new in 1997 then died in a car crash, so the bike has only been road half a dozen times, they took it to a dealer and told the dealer that it was not going to be used so asked if they would be able to do anything with it to help perserve it for years of being parked, well last spring the owners other son decided he would like to use it and when he got it running a bolt came through the crank cover and leaked out all the oil, knowing these people quite well the brought it to me to see if I could fix it so I did and they never paid me, so after 6 months I asked them if they wanted this bike and they said to give them 500 bucks and it was mine, so now I own this 250 that seems very gutless, I would like to pull the motor off and send it somewhere to get rebuilt, maybe add a bit of HP, but have not had a lot of experince with bikes since I was younger I don't know what Kind of mods to do this motor, or where to send it for that matter. any help would be very appriceated
