Engine compartment washing

I have pulled the pipes off my ZR to give them some fresh paint and thought while they are out I would give the motor area a good cleaning. Under and around the bottom of the motor its fairly greasy so I'm thinking of soaking with a deagreaser then followed by a pressure wash. This shouldn't be a problem but i don't want water getting in through the exhaust ports.
Any idea's on how to avoid or should I even be worried about it??
Any feed back appreciated!!
