Anybody gonna be riding?

anytime from Feb 12 - 22 at all? I have a bunch of days off, but I don't think any of my riding buddies can go. I have not yet been to Blue River or Valemount.

Anyone going to be there around that time and wouldn't mind me tagging along?

I am likely also going to put a very similar email in the other typical destinations as well. Really it don't matter to me where I ride.

We are headed to Smithers BC from the 17thish to the 22nd. Dates aren't set in stone, but it will be sometime around then...

Wow, that is far away. Is the riding there epic? I obviously have never been there before. I guess I got a ton of time off though.

Yes some really good ridin there but its long hike. mcbride is about half way point for me

I am kind of thinking about the Smithers location. Might be one of the few times I could hook up with some people that know the area. That is a hell of a drive though.

I will be in Vale and or Mcbride on a few of those days threw the week and will likely be looking to tag along with some others as I will be heading there by myself.......at least at this point!

Big drive for sure, but worth it. They've been getting pounded with snow lately... We will be doing a couple mountains: Onion, Microwave, Harold Price and the boys will do a trip to the Sinclairs, which I REFUSE to go to (the climb in is a little hairy!)... We may stop for a day in McBride on the way there, collect my Mom in PG (babysitter) and then head to Smithers. My entire family (several sets of aunts, uncles, cousins) live there, so we have ample tour guides and lots of really great people to hang with- and heated shops for the after-snowmobile beers and fix-its!! Just sayin...

Well, I don't want to sound like a wussy but I have not been a huge fan of you gotta be able to climb out of this or you are stuck here situation. Gorman at Golden was a hell of a ride though so I guess you never know.

Sounds like a pretty good trip though. Where is the best place to stay in town there?

Maxwell, Catmando, and Bounce maybe I will leave Edmonton a few days early and meet up with one or all of ya and ride a day before the Smithers adventure? Depending on road conditions it would probably be nice to just go halfway. Hopefully my body can handle all the riding.

Well, my hubby has never been to the Sinclairs either and depending on weather, it is not a for sure thing. I guess it is unbelievable once you are in, but the ridge to get in is a pretty long sidehill with consequences on failure!

My cousins would never bring you in there if they figured you couldnt ride it out, so if after a few days of watching you ride, they werent sure about it we would just ride somewhere else. Or, you could stay home for a day and rest your tired sledding muscles and have tea with us hens!! All the mountains are close- wake up and do a 360 turn and pick where you wanna be.

There are some nice hotels and even some little cabins close to where my family lives. I can get you hotel numbers if you would like, or else you can crash with us at a relates house. Don't know how you would feel about this, but I assure you my family is totally laid-back about such things. It might be easier, as after sledding there is usually a big dinner ready at someone's house and we all congregate to share hero-stories and giggle a little before we pass out.

We do this trip several times a year and if you aren't sure about going that far right now, you can always hop on the train when we go in March for Snowarama and sled drags...

I was born in Smithers but moved to Prince George shortly after hatching. My parents decided to deprive me of the privilege of being raised in the mountains and doing fun things like sledding and so moved me to the logging-town-chit-hole that is PG!! (Insert bitterness here )

Resultingly, I only got to start sleddig a few years ago and I don't know very many people up in Smithers, unless they are my family. I am sure one or more of my cousins/aunts/uncles etc., would know who that is tho- that place is pretty small!
