Question Southfork - Creek blocked

Was camping out near Southfork (Prairie Creek) last weekend and noticed that the pipeline where it intersects the creek has been barricaided so people don't cross the creek. Never rode down there as I rarely go that way, but I know that many people camp right on that pipeline and abviously ride through the creek there. Yes, I know it's illegal, and as the son of a Fishery Biologist I'm pretty good about staying out of the creeks. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this. My thoughts are that if whoever blocked it doesn't want rowdies tearing the blockades down, they should provide an ATV bridge (like at Chambers) for people to continue to have access to the pipeline. Thoughts?

Re: Southfork - Creek blocked

DaveB there is a bridge in place to cross the creek. It is just north from the pipeline. It is a very nice bridge made of metal and painted black. I read the signs and believe it was installed by Encana or who ever owns the pipline.
Obviously you missed the signs that say to use the bridge.

Yes the signs were installed by the Oil Company and yes there is a real nice bridge crossing there. They are worried about pipeline exposure in the creek from the larger units. Hope this helps.

Re: Southfork - Creek blocked

Thanks fellas! Yes Qmao, I obviously missed the signs as I obviously posted that I never rode there....I just drove past. I usually camp west of the tracks and never drove into that area....just saw it from the road. I was wondering how it would be received if it was totally blocked off.

Re: Southfork - Creek blocked

Not sure if the pipe was hit as it was on the Trans canada line in Prairie Creek,,,,,,, but it is to keep the ATVers/4x4ers from being insinerated/evaporated should they burst a line. The workers at the Trans Canada figured thier upgrade would be $100,000. I know the Southfork job was over a couple weeks. From the road it does look blocked,,,,,, lots of logs for campers to get easy firewood though!!!
