Re: Ask the Manufacturer

Excellent Sled decks...

Have own 4 aluminum decks - the last 2 (still own) are Marathon Decks and are by far superior to any other aluminum deck out there...

Own 2 - 7 ft slide out decks for sleds and quads on a Ford & GMC short box truck.
Easy to load and unload decks on to trucks 2 man job 20 minutes.
One man job to load either a quad or sled onto the deck in just minutes with the slide out ramp & super clamps.

They have been used about every 2nd weekend for the past 3 years and are still in excellent condition, slides and ramps work great. (repolished 1 deck that was bought polished and polished a standard deck to a new polished finish, both look like chrome now - 40 hours polishing to do both)

Load 2 - 800cc quads on the decks and pull a 24' holiday trailer excellent combination. Corners good just dont do a 90 degree turn with the trailer behind or the corner of the deck will dent the trailer (just use a little caution)

Load 2 - Ski-Doo 800 Summits x 151" and pull 2 place open deck sled trailer, again another excellent combination. Bought the sled deck extentions that add 18" to the 7 ft deck giving me 8'6" deck length which works super for 151 and 162 tracks. When not using the extention it flips over onto the deck and most people would not even know it was there...

Recommendations - Live & Learn - buy the polished or powder coated decks. They look as good years later as when you bought them. Standard aluminum oxidizes and is hard to keep that new look (thats why we polished it up to chrome finish 40 hours later).

Ron (RKnight111) is selling some aluminum polish that helps to keep that polished new look.

Re: Ask the Manufacturer

Just bought a Marathon 7' with slide-outs. Bought it used and it needs a little TLC, have it half polished after just a few hours and its looking great. The prvious owner had it mounted to his truck with turnbuckles so I am going to change it and bolt it into the bed of my truck. Before I do this the front legs need a little welding done to them, can you recommend someone in the Sherwood Park area? Do you do repairs at your shop?

I have attached a picture , the leg towards the front of the box needs the welding done

I like your home page with the cop car on it. some very good points mad there. One important point that should be made is the maximum rating of the truck should not be exceeded. I see way too many 1/2 tons with decks and 2 sleds on them.

I talked to Jay at Marathon and I guess the leg has been modified, so its definitely not poor craftsmanship on their part. They have said they will re-weld it or replace the leg if needed.

Just another reason to buy local, great service and great people to deal with

THANKS MARATHON

i was looking at a 2500 mega cab diesel and the payload rating is only 1600lbs althought the diesel is a much heavier motor
if your lucky its 1300lbs payload which would not be enough
2 sleds 900+ lbs dry weight, sleddeck 350 lbs, you would already be over weight without gear/fuel and a passanger
