Re: yamaha nytro=600cc?

Good question. I always thought it was an 800 class sled. Unless a stock nytro was put in the 600 modified class.

Re: yamaha nytro=600cc?

nytro = 130hp (4 stroke make less HP per dusplacement size)

skidoo 600HO = 130+hp

power to weight ratio, the nytro's is a little behind the 600 in hp./lb, but ahead in torque/lb.

Re: yamaha nytro=600cc?

4 strokes make less power per cc than 2 strokes because there is one power stroke every 4th stroke instead of every 2nd stroke. That's why in MX you have 450cc four strokes racing with 250cc 2 strokes (both around 50hp) and 250cc 4 strokes racing with 125cc 2 strokes (both 30ish hp). The 2 strokes are a little lighter as well, just like the sleds but you've seen what's happened with the MX'ers. Same thing will happen with 4 stroke sleds eventually and its already starting, the weight will come down and the hp will come up.....then there's boost just run a boosted 600 2 stroke against a boosted 4 stroke

your pretty much exactly right. i still think its unfair to group the 4 strokes with the 2 strokes cuz they each have characteristics that make each one unique. im sure you all know what they are. but the basic reason they put the nytro in the 600 class is just the horsepower is equal with that of a 2 stroke. but if you really wana see the fine differences, check out dyno charts for both and that should explain a little more to you of the benefits and disadvantages of both
