Ultimax Belt for 2009 Summit XP 800

Hey,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with using non-skidoo belts on 08/09 Summit 800's. Do they stand up? (ie Ultimax belts, etc)

I tried using an Ultimax on my old 97 polaris 680 triple and it grenaded on the 3rd ride while I was carving... was a nasty mess to clean up. Haven't tried a non-OEM belt since but don't want to pay full price for the Skidoo belt.

Cheers,
-Owen

Ultimax has a new belt this year for the XP's which is sized more like Ski-Doo's #377. Part number for that belt is "XS821". Shorter and wider than the old "XS803"

I've been using the Ultimax belt on my '08 as well as the new Doo belt and the Gates Xtreme. I personally prefer the Gates belt over them all. Much more price effective and the durability is very good. My 800 uses the Ultimax HX 803 and the Gates number is 43x4320. Cheers

Any ideas where I can buy Ultimax or Gate's belts in Calgary?

You may also be able to order either belt through NAPA. Some stores will carry stock, some rely on ordering as need be.

Re: Ultimax Belt for 2009 Summit XP 800

Got my hands on a Gates 43X4320 for $90 at NAPA today... put it on the sled and it's definitely a shorter belt... anyone else notice the same thing?

Can anyone confirm that the 43X4320 is the correct belt for a 2009 Summit Everest 154" w/ 800R engine??

Thanks,

Re: Ultimax Belt for 2009 Summit XP 800

As per the Gates website that is not the correct belt.(for the 09) it does say its the correct belt fot the 08 Everest. Likely something to do with the 166/377 change.

Industrial & Auto Replacement Parts: Find Gates Belts, Hoses, Hydraulics & more

50X4395

Angle 24
Effective Length (In.) 43.80
Outside Circumference (In.) 43.80
Top Width (In.) 1.5

43X4320

Angle 26
Effective Length (In.) 43.37
Outside Circumference (In.) 43.37
Top Width (In.) 1.438

Now this is just info copied right from the website. I have no actual experience with them.

The 43x4320 fits from 04 to 07 800 Summits but not the XP as far as I know
you have to be careful buying from NAPA they have sold me the wrong belt before but the Gates web site is the best way to get the part numbers then order them in, we had a NAPA store and ordered six last year because they had no stock in Canada and they were on back order. I even contacted Gates directly.

Re: Ultimax Belt for 2009 Summit XP 800

So I've confirmed that the 50X4395 Gates belt is correct for my 2009 Summit Everest XP 800R.

NAPA normally sells them for $135 but they can't get them at the moment. It appears that their warehouse is out and Gate's won't resupply them.

I have found a US distributor that ships to Canada and has them though. Rock AutoParts sells them for $59.79 USD each. Shipping individually is expensive so I'm looking for others that also want the belt and we can do a group buy to save big $$.
Shipping prices to southern Alberta:
$35 for 1 belt
$42 for 2 belts ($21 each)
$49 for 3 belts ($16 each)
$52 for 4 belts ($13 each)
$62 for 6 belts ($10 each)

PM me if you are interested in a group buy. I'm looking for 3 or 4 others in the Calgary/Golden area. (If I get 4, each belt would be $73 USD each, almost half price and way way less than the $184 Skidoo wants for the 377 belt)

Cheers,
-Owen
