![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: ice scratchers?? They are made of Spring steel. you bolt them either to your skid or running boards or skiis, depending on the type that you buy. When riding on hardpack or frozen trails you put them down, they send up a spray of ice that lubes your sliders and cools the exchangers in the tunnel. Works way better than dragging your feet.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: ice scratchers?? yup............ what Summiteer said!!!! put a 3/8" bolt in the inside back corner of each ski & away you go........... no worries about lack of lubrication or over-heating anymore. don't have to worry about reverse either. just remember to take them out at the end of the day. ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: ice scratchers?? what i have actually is a piece of 3/8 cold roll with a washer welded on it about the middle. put it up thru the bottom of the ski then put another washer on top of the ski, then slide a cotter pin into a pre-drilled hole in the scratcher. i have never changed a set of sliders in 8 yrs riding out in Golden........ no matter what the trails look like.(for good measure, we had a carbide tip welded onto tip of scratcher............. from skilsaw blade) RN PERSONAL PICS 049.jpg PERSONAL PICS 047.jpg

Actually, What we using is 3/8" ready rod approx 3" lenght with fender washers & nuts, One on each side & make sure you get them good & tight so it don't work loose & egg shape your hole, Then ya can adjust lenght & remove them by removing top nut.

Now I'm glad I did not buy $70 scratchers like I wanted too (forgot to add them to shopping cart at royal on last buy). Plus the weight on this is much lower. And you can use reverse. I like low cost red neck solutions like this. Thanks guys! I'm gunna go out to the garage in my PJ's now and cut me up some ready rod!!
