Boss Seat

Im thinking on buying a Boss seat but they have many options and cant decide and since they are custom built i dont want to buy the wrong one. Im thinking about the highrise seat (3" higher than stock) but that seems it may be to high, then theres the flat top (1.5" higher than stock) I do plan on putting 3"-4" risers, my sled is 06 M7 153". Just looking for your thoughts as i know nothing about them or which is the most popular choice. Also what would the advantage of a slick top to a non-slide top be either than one lets you slide and the other doesn't.TIA

You might want to check on Availability, my buddy went to order one for his 1000 Summit and was told they are back ordered for 2 months.

I saw a 10 minute feature on BOSS seats on some TV program a while back. What a neat company. They seam to really care about making a great product and having features that add value - they wont make a seat for a model unless they think they can make a better one. Nice features and top quality, expensive though but if you are after a superior product I think they are the one to get.

I find the trend on newer sleds are higher and have narrower, taporred seats (for deep powder riding). After riding newer sleds I wish my seat was higher and narrower (I have an 03 Ski-Doo Summit ZX chassis). My ZX is higher then the last chassis (wife has an SC chassis) and I prefer mine. And the Revs are higher yet and I prefer them. And the 07 rev is narrower then the 06 and tapered now and that seams nice for getting your leg over and side hilling etc. Of course the whole sleds is desgined around a taller seat, so getting too extreme on a different sled might not be wise. A higher seat is not bad as long as you know how and are in shape enough to get low when you need to. For example the revs (and other newer sleds) put you a lot higher than the older chassis but when you learn how to ride them it is not a problem.

I think the boss seats also try to move you forward a bit (possible with a higher seat) and that is nice on an older chassis, but you might want riser setup that pivots from the bottom so you can move the bars forward a bit as well (there are after market products that can add the pivot to older sleds).

I think if you have a narrower seat, you would not also want it to be slick. It would be easier to get around the seat being narrower so you would want it to grip when you were on it. I think it would depend on your riding style a lot as well. If you find you can reach over the seat ok now and don't find you come in contact with it a lot you might prefer the grippier seat for when you wanted the traction. If you find you like to stay on the seat and move around on it, you might like it slick. Personally I like the grippy boss seats, but that is me.

As far as how high, that is probably something only you can say. It's about personal preference. I would suggest jumping on some sleds that are higher and find out how you like riding them. I do find as the bars go up, it's nice if the seat goes up a bit as well. Maybe stick a 3" foam pillow or some folded up blankets on your sled and go for a short ride and see how it the height suites you and your sled. An inch or two up and foward can really change how it all feels.

You might already be doing this but one thing you can try to do is think about specifically what you don't like about your present seat.
