Talking Re: Rallys

Well we will see I think it would be fun to go maybe I could talk some of the guys from down here to come with me and show them what a real ride is like.
everyone here keeps telling me I should get rid of my 4x4 and get a sport quad until I went riding with them in the snow and did all the pulling when they got stuck

Re: Rallys

They used to have the Robb rally in June, not sure if that has changed though since I haven't been to it in a couple of years.

Re: Rallys

For a challenging Quad rally I would recommend the Whitemud Quad rally, located Northwest of Valleyview about 25 min. I've been on this one twice now, there is an insane amount of water on this one. I don't recommend this one if your planning on takeing children or a two wheel drive. Last year there were a few videos on U Tube, just search whitemud, I made it in to two of them! There's one of a guy who lost his machine in a creek. Alot of the creeks had to be crossed on log bridges. Bring extra cloths to this one and a snorkle!

Pick me, pick me...... I'd be up for it if my schedule (and the lovely general) will allow it.

I hear ya about the sport quads though. I love them in the summer, but hate having to get pulled up all the hills.

Re: Rallys

Edson Atv Poker Rally is July 5/08. Alway the first Saturaday after the July long Weekend. I'll post more in coming weeks.

Robb poker rally is whenever they decide to have it. Sometimes its in May sometimes June... or July,.... or August. For the most part, the organizers work shift work, so they need a date that works for most of them. I'll post a date as soon as I hear something.

The Robb Rally is for the hardcore mud riders. One third of the riders will never see the first check point. One third will not get it done in time. The rest will wonder why and how they did finish. Two good camping areas right in town. Lots of good riding around Robb for Sunday.

Re: Rallys

lol.. your gona scare the guy garry.. look if you dont leave your camp at Noon but actually leave with the first 100 or so people you will finish robb fine. its when people try to leave after 500 quads have been threw a mudhole that things just get sticky.

we left about 110th.. pased about 60 people by check point 1 .. passed everyone else by check point 2 and were finished the whole ride about 1 hr ahead of the next finishing rider. and we didn't feel we were even pushing it.. ate all our stuff and drank all our drinks ect.

so honestly if you pace yourself you will finish the robb rally ride fine.. the biggest trick is to get out of the habit of follow the leader lol. 1 guy will hold up like 60 people on the trail that you can easily just take a left off threw some skeg and crawl past em.

there is some great scenery out there in robb. its worth it. i was only a little disapointed with the path along the skeg last year that was just what looked like fresh cut stubble with little pungi sticks all over. im sure someone had some punctures on that section.

but anyhow like i said above. as long as you look out for yourself and roll with the flow dont start the rally at 12:00 your fine imho.

Re: Rallys

Leonard, I have done the Robb poker rally since 1997 and only missed last year. I usually leave Robb right at 8:00 and am back and sitting in the resturant by noon.

Experienced riders can make it back with lots of time to spare.

Most of those that don't make it back seem to be the ones who want to play in the mud anyways. Everyone has a good time.

For anyone that likes the mud or likes a challange, the Robb Poker Rally is highly recommended.
