Cross country races in alberta

why hasent anyone held a cross country race in alberta? like the gncc ones in the states! i know i would race and like atleast 10 other buddies would too.

its just a thought a maybe some club would but on on hint hint!!! maybe in the bruel area? or vega?

Check the insurance rates to hold an event such as that..... That's why, it costs a friken fortune. Back in the days of the North West Snowmobile Association there were races everywhere throughout the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.....The insurance costs kept rising and rising and soon it wasn't affordable to hold those kinds of events.

I am sure if someone were to organize something on a one of basis every now and then it would be fairly well attended, to keep it alive and say hold an event every two weeks throughout the winter months....... That would be a tough go.

but yet many atv rallies are held throught the summer which also need insurance soo you answer doesnt make senece.......on the rallies you see people drinking and also not wearing helmets. But if it was a closed course and sanctioned event with rules and prober equipment required then insurance should be cheaper?

Also the dirt bike community hold several hare scramble events.......but for some reason us atvers dont?

True my little minion....... The issue is the word RACE which puts it into a whole different Risk Matrix by the insurance company standards.

It's kinda like sex with a rubber.... Safe huh , now punch a few holes in the rubber and the risk goes way up doesn't it ........ Well that's what insurance in Alberta is like, add the risk and you get srewged. And rallies aren't supposed to have beer's if you read the fine print in the insurance policy .

i just thought of it i have a wicked place that could host this race it just 1.5 hr east of edmonton? might need some work......on the trails and as some are not wide enought to pass in but i still would be fun! hills, mud. trees and open fields.
