gearing down

just wondering the opinions here, i was talking to a buddy about being able to hold the power band in 3 to 4 gear while climbing in the sand i have a cr 250 fmf pipe boysen reeds two tooth biger back sproke and one tooth smaller front sproket and it holes the band very well. but i have lost a bit of top speed. now my buddy told me to go with a bigger fly wheel it will give you alot better bottom end and will hold the band better while climbing in the sand and you won't lose any top end speed. any feed back would be great.

Re: gearing down

The fly wheel idea works to maintain momentum, but it takes more power to get it in motion. Your zip will be lost on the bottom with the heavier wheel. My two cents.
