'98 Summit 670 stalling

My cousin recently made a trip to the mountains and after riding for a bit and playing around he came to stop for a rest where his sled promptly stalled out. He started it back up, made a couple climbs, came back. Same thing happened. He said the sled was running great while it was running, but they ended up having to tow it out. Haven't figured out what's up with it. And today while I was at his house, we took it for a ride and it ran perfectly... Anyone have any idea what could be happening? Ignition problem or fuel problem? Sled seems to have spark, and the plugs look spot on...

Re: '98 Summit 670 stalling

Could be water In the fuel or it could be a plugged fuel filter.. Maybe check the fuel on/off to make sure it hasn't moved close to off (reduces fuel flow). Eleminate the basics first.

Re: '98 Summit 670 stalling

I have a 98 Summit X. A couple of years ago mine did the same thing. Stator finally died completely after stopping for a bit on the way home. When I pulled it apart to relpace I noticed what looked like different than stock bolts inside. It looked like the stator had previously been replaced. If so, my Summit is on number 3 stator.
