risers?

my dad is 80 and still sleds, so Im trying to make the sled easier for him to hill climb and sidehill so Im looking at buying a 6 inch riser for a 1999 RMK 700. can anyone tell me if I need to extend the throttle cable, brake hose, wiring? what is cable extention worth? anyone have any used parts to finnish this project.

also not sure but my 05 900 RMK has that funky tilt steering, can I add a riser to it? how much can I add before I have to start changing cables and hoses. I do have a new cable from I think his name is frenchy from alberta to install.

Re: risers?

i had a 00 700 rmk with 3 inch riser and tag T2 handlebars

i had to bend the hard brake line to make it fit and reroute the throttle cable, and i aslo had to make sum of my wires for the handle bar warmers to fit the length, but its was still high for me and im 6,1ft and loved every second of it, i sold it to my cousin who is about 6,8Ft and he put a 5 inch on now, then he had to buy a cable extension and brake line about 160 bucks.

the Tag t2 banshee bend bars are very nice, still narrow and i used a tag fly racing 3inch riser with pivot bar adpater.
RSI is who everyone is carrying now for risers like the fly racing
but if you use stock handle bars a 6 inch should work with bending your brake line, and rerouting the throttle cable
best way to check is to take the bars off with everything still on and see how far your cables will stretch.

Re: risers?

I raised the bars on my 900 with a 4" powermadd riser, they are fairly inexpensive and a real easy install. You will have to splice and extend all of your electrical wires approx. 1"-2" (even more if you think you may want a taller riser in the future) a bit time consuming but well worth the time and effort, just use automotive wire of the same gauge, soldered all splices and used heat shrink, you don't want to half azz with the electrical. The throttle cable and brake line don't need to be extended, you may have to do a some creative rerouting of both. I used to have a 99 700 RMK that I raised the bars 2", did not need to do anything other than to install the riser, if you are thinking of going 6" you will probably need throttle and brake line extensions, and also deal with the electrical.

Re: risers?

thanks for all the info. if any one knows of a 4 inch riser to fit my 05 900 let me know. does the 900 use a different set up than the 99 700? and as for the 700 can I extend the metal line part with a doubble flare fitting and a extention like in a car, or is it something that is a bread of its own? (I`m good with a doubble flare nut tool and some brake line)

Thanks again

couldnt see why not that would not work for the brake line "trial and error"

theres 2 different types of risers, block and pivot riser.

these are those pivot risers if you havent seen them

this shows a rev post but polaris is just a little bit bigger

best bet is to go with a pivot risor with adapter then you can adjust your bars more. but really all depends on ur 05 if it is a T post of flat top post. im not sure my 09 dragon is a flat top post

-if it has a T post then just by a RSI pivot riser or any type like that
-flat top will require pivot post adapter
