Trail Conditions

Trail Update. Anzac trail, first grooming went well, system if open for full use. Trail is now fairly beat up, respect the speed limits, the "compressions" will get you. Stoney trail system work ongoing. Still a few remaining trees to be removed. Will hopefully be grooming right after the Christmas season. Some very rough sections, some just rough...lol. Seeing lots of usage, but not many trail passes being noted on riders. Stoney Poker Rally will be on Sunday, Jan 27. Trail passes will be required. Day passes available. Best snow this early in the season for the last 10 years or so. Many spots up on Stoney are almost waist deep already. Cheers, Dare

Thumbs up Re: Trail Conditions

Okay, not a reply, a new update.... Lots of snow, trails groomed, lots of riders. We have great conditions, and once mother nature remembers to close the damn freezer door, we should have some great sledding. Stoney Rally was canceled due to the minus 40 windchill up at the Staging area. Trail was fully groomed and from what I hear, is in great shape. Anzac trail has been groomed at least 4 times this year, and was in great shape. A "industrial user" has exercised their rights and are using a 3 mile section to do some core drilling, so that section is heavily signed, and we request if possible to limit travel to the Linton to power line trail sections (B-K). The industrial company is suspending operations so we can do our Rally on Sunday, the 17th, but will resume operations on Monday or Tuesday.... we ask any riders in this area to use extreme caution. As far as snow, my guess is over 2 feet of good stuff on the flats, and who knows how deep in the woods. Ride safe, Cheers, Dare

Re: Trail Conditions

New post regarding the trail conditions in the Mac.... we have some snow, but it is very poor conditions. The muskeg is NOT frozen under the snow. I have spoken with lots of members and the staging area up at Stoney had at least 50 trucks parked in it on Sunday. I spoke with one member and a rider in his group wrote off his brand new sled because he was going too hard, and a tree under the snow threw him into the bush. The trail head sign states the trail is still closed, and until we do our opening ride and take that down, it is user beware. Just so there is no confusion, both the Stoney and Anzac trails are still considered CLOSED, Use at your own risk.

UPDATE: Have not heard back on any work yet on trails.... As of Dec 01/08, the trails are STILL considered CLOSED, use at your own risk.... Looks to be lots of snow, just no frost yet. Supposed to be cold finally the next few nights, so will let everyone know once the crews get out on the trails. Cheers, Dare.
