Two weeks ago the Calgary Herald had a series of articles on the epidemic of diabetes in Canada (very serious with the native population) and it quoted there would be close to 30,000 fatalities related to health complications related to diabetes! Have we seen the media on that bandwagon? Nope, I guess it wont sell as much advertising space!!!!

I'm going to be blunt and just say the responses I've read so far are largely posted out of ignorance!

What is a virus? A virus is a chunk of protein that has one job and one job only and that is to replicate itself. Once inside a host cell it uses that cells protein to build more of itself until the cell bursts and millions are released into your system. Now your sick!

How does your immune system work? Your immune system sees the virus and creates an intibody to redflag each viral cell so white blood cells can eat it. Takes about 7 to 10 days for it to make enough to clear all of them, one at a time. Thats why a cold lasts that long.

How is the vaccine made? Lets say each little viral cell is an egg. First you get as many eggs as possible. Then you denature the protein rendering it inactive. In this case we'll boil our eggs denaturing the liquid protein to produce a hard boiled egg. Then you crush it up, throw away the shell and presto you have something you can inject into the body.
Your immune system only needs to see part of the virus to make antibodies.

How does the vaccine work? Now that your immune system has seen the protein it produces the little red flag antibodies. When an actuall H1N1 viral cell enters the body not only do the immune cells let go one antibody they let go millions thereby affectively stopping it in it's tracks. You don't get sick.

Why should you be immunized? H1N1 is particularily virile and unpredictible in its severity. It can as you have heard it can kill otherwise healthy patients. All interesting and accurate facts but, it has yet to be specifically determined what triggers an Autoimmune response within the human body. For me that is the #1 concern and reason for not getting the vaccination. Right now I'm going through what Dr's can only explain as a "possible autoimmune response' which may be attacking my auditory nerves in my inner ear. Four Dr's have no idea what may have triggered it. I could be deaf within a year, they don't really know. It has been indicated through various articles about the H1N1 vaccine, that it may play a role in activating autoimmune responses causing disorders such as MS. True that you may feel terrible if a loved one dies from the virus and you may have been able to do something to prevent it, however I'd likely feel just as bad if I had my child take the vaccination, surrounded by all the controversy and unanswered questions, and now my child requires full care for the remainder of his/her life because the vaccine caused a response within his/her body that is now slowly taking away their quality of life and ultimately killing them. Could you imagine seeing your son/daughter wind up like the girl in the video I posted a couple of pages back? Ignorance? Maybe. But my body has fought off Flu viruses before and I'm going to take my chances on it coming through for me again.

Great article....sites some REAL truths. If yu think about the money these cmpanies will make from this it's mind boggling. They can then use that money to turn around anf further contribute to specific politicians and/or bolster their lobby groups. In essence the governement paying out the money is being bought off by the very money they paid out. Sick!

I now hear that Canada will be bringing in adjuvent free vaccine from Australia for pregnanat women. If it's "better" for pregnanat women, whi isn't it better for everyone!!?? Something to think about.

We have "epidemics" of things in North America that cause far more deaths every year than any flu. Why do they not get such government, financial and media attention??

Again I say.....waaaaay too many questions.

With all due respect NOTHING is free, especially with a government involved!! There are many things in this world that take the lives of children, more than any flu, and we CAN do something about those.

Well I haven't read one post that anyone is getting the shot.....I guess i'll be the first to say that i'm getting it, my wife ( who is a public nurse) is giving the shot out to people right now, has received the shot, my son has received the shot, vaccines are given to help you. IMO the cheerleader who was given the seasonal flu shot not the H1N1, looks like the stars lined up in her case as that is the first time that i have heard of something like this happening in her case it is very sad. At the end of the day it is up to you to make the call for what is best for your family.

An autoimmune response is the bodies own whiteblood cells killing healthy cells. We totally know how it works! White blood cells don't eat cells they only eat redflags (anitbodies) and whatever that flag is attached to. Why the body is tagging heathly cells is another matter. This vaccine however has nothing to do with that. In the small amount of studies done the vaccine has preformed well. Only reason larger studies aren't available is that there is no time!! Time will tell once the full wave has hit and believe me you ain't seen nothing yet!! Schools only have to report when 20% or more of their students are home with flu like symptoms. Last week 3 schools in the Edm. Catholic System made the call!! Trust me when more people start dying you won't be able to get a vaccine fast enough. If your at all concerned speak with your Doctor. Most health professionals I've talked to are getting the shot! What does that tell you???

One of the guys i work with reads that site alot. There is only 1 reason i or my kids have not got it, or any others. No 100% guarantee that there will be no sides affects. Most people get them and so do there kids. So with all those people getting them it makes my kids safer. I will take my chances it is always a 50/50 chance same as walking accross the street, JMO
