Ok about the bibs for the racers. We have a limited amount of time for the drags .The BDSO is a one day event so we have to have drags done by noon. So we put a cap of 30 competitors for this. We have bibs this year so it will help the judges with identifying who wins and who loses. In the past we have just gone off sled, rider appearance. It was ok with only 8 people but last year with the move to the freaking bunny drag hill more people came out of the crowd that we were not ready for and it got confusing to a point.
As it stands for this year it is still running like an outlaw event. No timed gates /finish line. The judges at the top will be eyeballing who wins and who does not. We might or might not have a groomer at the start line. If we do bonus, if not don`t bitch about trenches. All racers will have to deal with them. Thats racing.
No working tether on your machine and we don`t care who you are, you will be turned away. We don`t have many rules but this one will be enforced for insurance purposes
Lincoln will be checking machines so check out the saftey checklist in other thread and web page. The info is out there and there is no excuse.
As far as the racing goes the warm up up heats will be 4 to 6 at a time .Then when we feel everybody has had a chance to take a few pulls to do final tweaking the elimination heats start. They will be 4 racers at a time. The top 2 advance while the other two are done for they day racing wise. When the elimination rds start there will be a marshaling area designated for the top 2 guys of each heat to wait. We will not chase people through the crowd. You snooze you loose. When we have our final 4 there will be a bit of a break to let you machines cool down / make adjustments if so needed. Then the finals as it stands right now is a one race take it all. No best out of 3 or 5 or 7.
Anyway back to the bibs. We are trying to get a conference room at the holiday inn in whistler for a few hrs on Friday evening from like 6-8pm. We want to assign bibs , get racer and sled info and waivers signed. Plus answer any questions. If that does not happen then it will happen when ever we can, parking lot, or on the start line during warm up heats. it will all work out.
Remember the BDSO is about having fun, there are no prizes, points, entry fees so every body needs to relax. It for bragging rights and we know that means a lot in this sport.
I`m personally more excited to see all the new sleds from the manufactuers in the snow side by side. I would go just for that. You don`t have to be invited or win a contest or be press to get this opportunity. How exciting is that.
Thanks
