Re: Ski doo xp 800 reeds

Well, my mechanic said boysens were the best for the XP 800's and I went with them last year, coming from an AC family and an 03' 900 1M V-force is best for AC and Boysens are for ski doo! And I'm totally happy with them, there is a nice peppyness after you install them that wasn't there before!

Re: Ski doo xp 800 reeds

give your self some time, to put these in, they are a biT(h.
Dont take the one bolt out all the way "you will know it when you see it" or you will have to pull the track off to get it back together. Thank "Glengine" for that helpful tip!

I wonder if that was my machine that Glen had the pleasure of figuring this out on.

Yes I was very greatful that he passed along that info. It's a big job without pulling the track.

For me the worst part was getting the bolts back in the fuel pump.

Re: Ski doo xp 800 reeds

One of the latest sled magazines had an article comparing stock, to vforce to boyesens...... Boysen reed made 4hp, vs the vforce which was about the same as stock, but the vforce had better throttle response....they said the vforce "felt better" because of the better throttle response, even though the boysens made more power......

Re: Ski doo xp 800 reeds

when i was buy my sled i got to talking to one of the mechanics, he was telling me that the proto-800R used vforce reeds when they were developing it and ski-doo based there reed cage off of the vforce design. its not completely the same but thats why very few ppl notice any gains with them. he also told me not to go with the vforce because during development they had backfire problems that would shrapnel the reeds. so when it comes to the
800R the boyesen reeds are the way to go. i personally cant justify $300+ for "throttle response". if im spending $300+ i expect some sort of result. just my .2cents

Meh the "testers" probably already had bought the Vforce and had to justify their purchase. or maybe didnt want the wife to know that they spent the money on something that wasnt really worth it.
just my 2 cents
