There is one really bad creek as you come out of the trees on the trail up. I'll post some pics and more info tommorrow.
We were the sled-skiers in there yesterday. Saw you guys make the pass. Good work! My buddy's RMK had no chance...

Re: Silent Pass

Sweeet! We didn't get back to our trucks until about six. The waterfall is pretty packed down now should fairly easy to get up, a few bumps and ruts.

haha what a change. ice cold mid winter day filled with face shots, long -10 degree ride back to the truck at 70km hour and then return to the hot smoldering island retreat of Calgary. No snow and 10 degrees today. Seems like another planet I was on this weekend...

Re: Silent Pass

The first pic is wednesday evening, Nov 11, at Quartz cabin. What an awesome day!! The rest are from Silent Pass on sunday, Nov 15. There is at least three four feet everywhere up top. Most areas in the trees have much more. The snowpack is pretty descent. Starting to firm up and settle. Still tons of fresh pow left up there to be torn up!! I'll be there Saturday!!! See you out there!! The last pic is the waterfall.

Re: Silent Pass

The waterfall doesnt look like much in this pic but it is still pretty steep. The trail up the middle is pretty well packed though.

Cool Re: Silent Pass

Planning to ride Silent on Friday. Was there a couple of years ago but a buddy was driving, so I don't remember the specific directions to get there. Can someone post directions so we don't end up making any wrong turns. Thanks.

take hiway 95 south of golden towards radium, travel down to Parson, take the right turn just past the Timber Inn sign on the left side of highway. go across the tracks & the 4 bridges, then just stay on main logging road up to whatever km you feel safe parking at. there is plenty of room at the 17 or 21, just depends if you're pulling a trailer and want to bust through snow with your truck & trailer. once unloaded, keep on main road till km 46 & take the left turn and go across the bridge. follow main trail from there up into alpine.
Watch out for active logging trucks up until the 9.5km I believe.
have fun & play safe with all this new snow!!!

Re: Silent Pass

trail in is real rough, miles of washboard, long long side hill with big rocks at the bottom, worth the pain to get in there.

Re: Silent Pass

now that they started grooming last cpl seasons (the mines), it's alot better than it used to be. It's by far the biggest area to ride in(in my opinion), except for Chatter Creek in the Spring. The mines can be sketchy at times due to the long valleys to travel thru to get to alpine areas. Slides need to come down in a few spots to cover up creeks on the trail & just to be safe. Some pretty big climbs to get back into the good areas as well. Big POW makes it FUN !!!
Well worth the trip back there though !!!

Re: Silent Pass

Rode Silent yesterday, and it was beyond crazy deep!!! They have more snow in there now then they did all last season. Took nearly 6 hrs to break through the trees and up to the top of the waterfall, and once we did we rode 4ft min til we were all out of fuel. One of my best rides ever.
