Yeh you bet I already went on the BC Gov site for the closed areas I think we are OK to go up ST Marys Lake RD out that valley but that is why I would like some local knowledge I don't want to donate my sled to the government.
Thanks,

The St Mary Valley is where I live. If you need any info or want some one to ride with send me a pm. There are closed areas but it is a big watershed with a variety of terrain and snowpacks.

You will be fine by November 20th if things keep up like they are.

Closures and restrictions are on the Purcell (west) side of the valley. Maps of the closures and restrictions are available at: BC Snowmobile Home Page

Maps are also displayed on large signs just installed at access points to all areas affected. We have smaller signs posted in the areas as well, so just watch for signs and you should be OK. Perry Creek is yet unsigned, but should be before Christmas.

No closures on the Rockies (east) side.

Trail maps for our managed and groomed area in Lumberton available at: www.cranbrooksnowmobileclub.ca It's no Blue River or Revy, but we've got some pretty good riding there.

If you want to ride somewhere you don't have to worry about any closures, lots of fun terrain, and very little avy hazard....but no grooming drop me a PM. You may have to swear to keep it a secret though!

Hope this helps.

Re: Sledding around Kimberley

Good early riding around Kimberly is up the St. Mary's Valley. Watch for logging trucks.

Re: Sledding around Kimberley

I saw some strange tracks up on the grey creek summit on sunday. They were coming up from the west. Looked like Mongrol tracks...

Was me for sure. Surprised to find 8 sleds and no riders. ???

Took my new quad on a shake down run. Nice conditions.

Re: Sledding around Kimberley

4 of us hooked up with 4 others on the trail and went for a hike up to the peak on the north side of the pass. Skiing is some of the best i've seen this time of year. Probing 130cm + , snowpack is consolidateing nicely. Warmer temps and precip is the best way to build a strong, safe snowpack. Sledding afterwards on the powerline pass was was pretty dam good. Winter is here.

Re: Sledding around Kimberley

Saw some small areas on the West side where the snow had sloughed a little but better now than having it build up. Did you try the road up to "Fat Bobs" cabin? Was going to try it but being alone, thought better of it.

Re: Sledding around Kimberley

What is the terrain like up the grey creek pass? Bear in mind, I am talking for skiing. I have yet to explore up there much, always seem to be on the eastern side of the valley. Just curious, looking for some good ski touring zones for the upcoming season.

Thanks
