Just some thoughts I have on trying to give racing here in alberta a boost. First of all I think it is a great idea, specially in a place like Alberta, where recreational sports are strong these days thanks to alot of things. It will definately help out all involved in the industry. We need people out there willing to put forth time and effort to make these types of things a go. Which seems to be evident from this thread. Some of the obstacles I forsee is addressing the fact as to why racing went down in the first place. Sponsorship is a must if you want to entice people to come out to the track, instead of loading up for some riding in the mountains (which to alot is way more appealing). So whoever is putting up that extra cash for the mountain class next year, good on ya! Cause that is a start. Personally if I was packing up my gear and spending money to travel somewhere to ride, if there is no money up for the winners at the races, i would rather go to the mountains for the scenery and hills. To me that is a better investment of my time and money.

Lets face it too, most people enjoy "winning" and stroking their egos a bit. So perhaps a thought is too get a few races on board and do a point type thing with overall money/prizes for the end of year. This may help getting people to commit to more races. Plus if they lose you can bet they will be knocking down many a shops for some improvements.

Just my 2 cents on the matter.

A few of us are going to make a move to improve all aspects of the racing here in AB for sledding in the upcoming year. Hopefully once the ball is rolling many more will join in. I ride the mountain(only) but will spend time and money on a drag sled and devote time to the cause here. If you'd like to be involved alittle for some events closer to home PM me. Thanks for the input.

Re: Wetaskiwin Sno Drags (pics- info)

there would be more big iron there if the track wasnt so icey .ive raced there but stopped bringing the turbos cause of the lack of traction .when your runing over 100mph and still trying to swap ends you begin to relize just how danerous that track can be
