Re: New UTV owner

I see what you mean, if you look at the MZ there are three ribs on the big lugs,
on my tires you can not see the the first rib and I am half way to the second. After breakin I will try the MZ if its too hard on the machine I will change them, lots of used tires out there on kigigi. thanksall

Re: New UTV owner

Congrats,.. I am taking one of my daughters out for a ride tomorrow for the afternoon, she just can't get enough and would ride 24/7 if she could. Also gives me chance to try out the new zillas in the sand dunes.

Re: New UTV owner

Questions for the Rhino veterans

I was able to get 70 kph before it hit the rev. limiter Is that OK?

I could go anywhere in high range ie: hill climbing, jumping good size logs, muskeg crossing etc. no lack of power. Will the engine get better with time, or is it broke in from the factory, and it is what it is?

I know the stock tires are weak, but they took me anywhere I wanted to go.
The mudzilla's on my Grizzly made a huge difference, but with the additional weight of the Rhino it seems to go quite well as is.

Any additional info is welcomed
Thanks Don

Re: New UTV owner

Best bang for the buck is a modded clutch sheave.Mine went from 70kph to 81kph with the sheave and no powerloss down low and it keeps from over revving.I run 26" tires ,large enough for me and no power loss.If you are running the stock shocks in the rough[unless they are the resi shocks]they are easely overwelmed.I run the OEM replacement Bilsteins, nite and day differance but spendy.Open your wallet and say goodbye to another 5K in accessories over the next year

Get the roller weights, cam sliders and gold spring from Hunterworks. It's much cheaper than a machined sheave and works better. If you really want a machined sheave let me know I have one that I didn't use and will sell it cheap.

I don't know how your getting around with the stock tires. I spent a whole day winching myself out of places with the stock tires. I put on 27" Bear Claws and the diff. is like night and day. Yes I lost a bit of power but I've never been out of power in any situation yet.

Enjoy your Rhino, I sure like mine.

My thoughts

Yes for now, IMO look into an MSD as it will remove the reverse limiter and and increase top rpm.

I could go anywhere in high range ie: hill climbing, jumping good size logs, muskeg crossing etc. no lack of power. Will the engine get better with time, or is it broke in from the factory, and it is what it is?

This is how I do it with mine EVERY time I go for a ride, once it has warmed up, I drive it hard, vary the rpm taking it for a rip before I hit the trails for a couple minutes,..cause I am usually the first one unloaded and ready to go, then when everyone is reary just drive normally. Then when I am done riding for the day I let it cool for 5min idling while I get trailer ready then load it. Everyone is different but I would ask Terry then if you have engine problems he can worry about it

I know the stock tires are weak, but they took me anywhere I wanted to go.
The mudzilla's on my Grizzly made a huge difference, but with the additional weight of the Rhino it seems to go quite well as is.

Clutch kit, probably secondary gold spring with primary 18gr rollers(including covers), different tires will make a HUGE difference

Any additional info is welcomed
Thanks Don
I would look into installing an engine temperature and voltage gauge, I like knowing how things are going and not relying on idiot lights.

Almost forgot one of the most important things,.. switch to some powersports synthetic engine oil after your break in for your first oil change. I use amsoil powersports 0w-40 all year round.

Check engine oil BEFORE each ride.

Go to princess auto and get yourself one of these so you can grease your drive shaft

Re: New UTV owner

Thanks guys for all the info. There is a ton of goodys to buy as long as you have the cash, Terry did give me some advice and it goes along with the info you have given me. I will work on the KISS principal and do the tires, eliminate the reverse limiter and maybe just a bit more giddyup.

Thanks
Don
