Ya the last few years i was there, people had attended the ride on a dirt bike. Can't see it being an issue.

Race bikes are not allowed on Crown land. You must have head/tailights, plates and insurance and spark arrestors. We don't want people without to start fires while riding. Thank you

Plates, insurance and must carry all paperwork with you while riding. If you have that stuff you will be good to go, no hassles.

Heh, im just glad I found out about the registration/insurance requirements before i showed up there looking like dumb menace to society >_>
In the past 2 weeks I've found i needed a helmet - purchased
Ride needs plates/insurance papers - Done and done

Anything else nobody's telling me?? :P

Does anybody bring spare gas cans with them on the trail?
Any other recommended trail gear?
I've got a good helmet, how many people ride with goggles with their helm too?

Thanks for your patience

Sorry, we get a little harsh some times. Just that a few bad apples can spoil it for the rest of the tree.

We usually have a small gas can with us just to be safe. Although I've had to tow my husband home by his winch before!

Goggles or Sunglasses something to keep the mud and dust out of your eyes, I've started using a bandanna over my mouth & nose like bikers do. The trails have been dusty this year and I'm tired of getting bugs up my nose!

Suncreen, bugspray and water round out the list for us.

Hope that helps!

I'd wear goggles, dry as it is in the woods, it'll be dusty....I was picking dirt out of my eyes for a week after the Robb rally.

Is there camping at the staging area or do you must go to one of the random camping spots?

Re: Edson Atv Rally - July 4, 2009

I just came back in for a hour so I'll try to answer all the question now.

Trail was really dusty yesterday but we did have some rain last night. I recommend googles vs sunglasses. Dust in the eyes is very uncomfortable for several days afterwards.

Please have the license plates attached to your quad when you arrive. The plate in the tool box isn't good enough for forestry.

MX bikes must have a head and tail light on them to be legal to use on public lands. I have no idea how Forestry will react to a compitition bike on the trails. It's your risk.

Spark arrestors are a legal requirement for use on public lands... even compitition machine come with spark arrestors. Removing the arrestor does nothing for performance so leave it in place.

Foresty has a standing invitation to this poker rally. They will be there, simple as that. They take pictures during the rally and then 2 months later and use those pics to show that trails heal themselves after a rally; they are doing all of us a favor by taking these pics.

The trail is 59.6 Kms. Most if not all ATVs should be able to go that far without extra gas.

Hotdogs and a pop are available (free, courtsy of Mid-West Glass in Edson) at the middle check point. A burger and pop are availble at the end of the ride (included with the registration fee). Bring any other snacks and drinks you think you might want.

Expect the trail to take 4-5 hours of actual riding time.

See y'all out there!
