Visco-loc is not adjustable beyond the design stages. It work very well most of the time and the times it does not work well is by design.

Visco-loc works well except when one front wheel looses all traction very quickly and the other is not turning very fast. In these cases the front wheel with traction does not engage until the front wheel speeds are relativly close; this prevents drive line damage to the stopped front wheel from sudden engagement. Polaris discovered this problem when they held the rights to the visco-loc system (google Polaris Magnum RMK) and thus decided to refine their hillard system and leave visco-loc to their competition.

IMO the visco-loc system is the best 4X4 system out there but comparing 4X4 to AWD is like comparing apples and oranges.
