Has anyone had luck catching rainbow trout trolling with braided line? Or should a guy stick with mono line? Keep hearing negatives of braided line spooking trout easily

If you have to rods I would stick with lighter mono on one for trout. Unless you are fishing in rocks then the braided handles the friction better. Wife and I have been fishing this year just for pike mind you, but she has braided and I went to a lighter mono and I been catching more. Might be I have better luck you never know.

Ideally what i generally do on a troll rod is set up the reel with braided, lake trout fishing or ocean. Braided line has little to no stretch thus giving you better tip action and less line stretch that is very common with mono.
Braided line will also last a lot longer and will have no tendency to tangle like mono, especially if your dragging heavy gear.
Next what you want to do is use a mono leader attached to the braided. The leader should be 6-8ft long and generally i like using a lighter leader then my main braided line. The mono leader will be more invisible to fish and will set the hook more effectively then using straight braided or straight mono.
Your answer is not one way or the other but experimenting with both.

Mono leaders are definitely the way to go if your already rigged up with braid. I use braided for pike and walleye but when I head to bc to fish rainbows (usually a week per year) I just add a mono leader instead of swapping my whole line.
