i was going to reply yesterday but thought you would get lots

ya darrel baker had one a few years back and he tried all sorts of crap to make it run better than a turd and could not get it, after a couple of stuck pistons and wrecked weekends, darrel went back to a 860

also heard of another gent with similar issues, call darrel and see what he thinks of it...lol he might even try selling you it

Hey thanks for the response,, I thought he was running a Crankshop 950? are they same thing as a bike man? I found a good deal on a complete motor and wanted it for a back up sled.. maybe that why its selling cheap tho cause it runs like ch!t?

I ran an 880 for 3years with lots of problems,, I just want some trouble free HP,, 2stoke turbos are getting pretty good might have to bite the bullet and go that route.

Thanks:beer:

I was running a Motts Machining 880,, im not trying to run down his product at all. Motts was great to deal with and when the sled was running It ran like a raped ape.

Problem was i couldnt keep a cylinder in the thing,, with the 880 they bore the motor out so much the cylinder walls are paper thin.. They just cant take any heat. Thats why I think the 860 was a better way to go. Maybe I just had bad luck? who knows.

I was thinking If the 950 wasnt just using bored out stock cylinders might be a better motor? I cant get much info on them tho which isnt a good thing.

Yes the bb are a bit of a problem! The rotax engineers will tell you once you get over that 400 cc per hole things get tough. It seems the 860's are doing not bad in terms of life but even lots of those are blowing up. That's why the 1000 had so many fail safes and still had issues. I'm not sure which is best way to go but the 860 has the best record so far.

Yes I talked with Dave the other day about 872 and he says they have 3 years r&d with them and work great. Have not heard of anyone here with one? Are you running one tukernater?

In my riding group we have 2 of them still playing with clutching, but They are brutes and Daves service is top notch. My buddy that has a 872 is looking at a new sled ,but wants the 800r just so he can run another 872 R .They run very smooth and pull very hard rate from the basement.

He talks about balance on the 800 which he says rotax missed on 800? He says that's the key to these bb? Maybe he's right if your buddies is smooth!Im thinking heavily for next season! Not into Turbos yet!

I have a MOTs 880 in my sled and it has been bullet proof. aside from clutching and the usual electrical issues the 08's had, by sled climbs with the new XM 163's. and its a 154!

are you running his Head? are you running the crankshop pipe? these are things he tunes and builts his kits with, and he is awesome at carb tuning for that little extra.

I have a buddy that got a Bikeman big bore installed by TSS. he hasn't had much help with tuning, its like they slapped it in and said good luck.. He asked what he should do for clutching and they told him to "see how it runs the way it is".... They added 20HP to the sled and told him to keep stock weighting... don't make no sense to me, especially coming from a company as well known as TSS..
