Id love to get a KTM 500EXC, but holy freaking cow are they expensive. 11k for a dirtbike is insane. Especially when you can get a brand new rmz 450 for 6k. Too bad you cant make them street legal though.

I have a 2014 EXC 500 and wow it is a nice bike. Torque, torque, torque along with a nice dose of engine braking. You don't want to go over 110 kph on the highway though as it wears you down pretty quick. Love a full on dirt bike that is legal on the roads. It is such a legal loophole this day and age. Feels great riding the roads near off road riding areas where the fish cops are bust'n everyone else for doing so. Then right at home on the gnarliest steep single track. The only way to justify the price is that it is good for several years and doesn't get outdated fast like a new sled at $18k. Also resale stays good on these bikes.

Your EXC is a legal road bike. It’s not like a XCF that has been converted for road use so it’s not a legal loophole in that case.

Four year old thread revival. ?

Yes it is legal but it goes everywhere your dirt bike goes : ) My point is that any bike that is on the road is a legal loophole really as if bikes where invented today no government would ever allow such a dangerous device on the roads. After all they insist on protecting us from ourselves in every way imaginable. Seat belts, air bags, crash test ratings etc, etc for cars. The 4 year old thing just shows guys are itching to get out and ride.
