Good Day, I have a 14 Yamaha YZ250 ( 2 stroke ). I went to go for a ride today ,but was a no go. I fired it up and the thing revved to the moon and would not idle down. YZ's normally rev up a bit when first fired up, but this time it wouldn't come back down. It seemed like the idle was turned up really high. I've owned this bike since new ( no previous issues ), been running 2 strokes for ever. There has been no recent carb adjustments done, and the throttle cable is not damaged or sticking at all. The only thing I can think of is possibly the throttle position sensor, but I'm not sure how to check it . Any suugestions?

Sounds like it's lean from either an air leak or maybe its not filling the float bowl so not getting enough fuel. Tap the float bowl, check fuel shutoff valve etc?

Well I don’t get it. I fired the bike up this morning did the same thing. I took everything apart found nothing wrong, put it back together and fired it up again. Runs great, no issues. Not sure what was up, oh well going for a ride today
