bike racks

so was looking at a steel bike carrier and see it requires a 2 inch reciver i only have a inch and a quarter i believe on my explorer i can buy the adapter to run a 2 inch think it will affect the over all load it will carry says its good for 500lbs and the bike is a wr 426 so well under that load . any thoughts never haul more then one bike so don't really want to buy a trailer to haul one bike

I have seen lots of guys with the receiver mount carriers and they work well for SUV's. Going to the 2" will not affect the load but make sure it can actually handle 500lbs of tongue weight.

the bike and rack are about 310ilbs and the receiver is good for 500 so should be safe
