    Icon9 Wifi help

I have a ASUS RT-N56U Dual band wireless N Gigbit Router.

Up until about 2 hours ago, it has been working flawless for the last year.
But...... my iPhone will pick up the wifi signal, but not my laptop
I have tried many system reboots, unplugged everything and still no luck
I unplugged my ASUS, and plugged my blue internet cable into my laptop, and Bob's my uncle

What would cause my laptop, to not receive wifi. But my phone did. I don't know a lot about computers, so please post in terms that I can understand

    Thanks in advance.

Not an expert either, but did you turn the wifi off on your laptop.

Is it possible your laptop is older and runs a wireless G wireless adapter that doesn't recognize wireless N? If so make sure the router is set so it also broadcasts on the other bands such as wireless G.

Oh wait missed the "was working part", were any updates applied to either device that may have changed the settings.

    Re: Wifi help

The ASUS has been great until tonight, I made a few post's when I got home. Then was in the middle of a post, when I lost signal. But my old 3GS iPhone still picked up the signal, where my laptop didn't!!!

This is where I am confused???

time for a repair or replacement...you laptop wifi is pooched. May be as simple as a driver update but I doubt it.
that's just my opinion...I could be wrong

    Re: Wifi help

Try plugging in direct to you router with a cable. Does it hook up now? If so, your wifi card is done

This one time my computer screwed up, my older nerd of a brother did a "system restore", he took the computer back in time to the day before it screwed up... The second time around I never broke it

    Re: Wifi help

I could see my laptop being done too...... I payed about 350 New, 2 years ago. I'm not very computer savy, and when they phuck up I tend to close fist punch them.
Hence why I buy cheap laptops
