Help - Created a website on Frontpage but now Window 7 will not run Frontpage

I can still see all the files but can not update any hyperlinks and other little stuff

Is it actuall Windows 7 or is it in Frontpage

The Front page logo banners in the website will not run in windows 7 either -- looking for Axtive X and we are an unknown publisher so windows 7 will not install active X

If Microsoft Frontpage is so old what program would be easy to learn like Front Page so I can continue with the website

If any website people can offer suggestions to help the sebsite please PM me.

Thanks

Sounds like a Registry issue, not certain of your error ID but you could try here:

If you are running Windows 7 PRO you can enable WinXP virtual mode and run any programs Windows XP could run but in a virtual windows XP window.

It works well.

I'm not much of a web developer (mostly just desktop and business logic), but Microsoft Expression Studio is the next generation of markup and web design tools. You can download a free trial here and it will probably be esiest to learn if you're already familiar with FrontPage. Studio Ultimate Product Trial | Studio Web Professional Product Trial | Encoder Download | SuperPreview Trial | Microsoft® Expression®

Alternatively, you can get Visual Studio Express 12 for Web for absolutely free - this is not just a trial. Download | Microsoft Visual Studio 2012
There will be a learning curve here if you aren't already familiar with using Visual Studio to write code and it is a little light on the design features. Then again, I'm a desktop developer and havne't installed the web edition which may may drop the learning curve a bit since it is targeted specifically for web development. (Generally, web developers will use visual studio and incorporate pages/design elemets that have been polished in Exression by dedicated designers.)

If you already know VB or C and wanna leverage the power of ASP, I highly recommend googling the MVC 4 tutorials wich will allow you to create very featurful web sited without having to depend on ActiveX crap to do what you need - it does this using a featurful framework, wizards, code generation templates and unobtrusive javascript. By the way, ActiveX is an extremely poor choice for web sites becuase it only runs on Windows machines and is a potential security threat since ActiveX controls can be malicious or even get virused right on the web server that is delivering them.

Unfortunately, I work in an environment that is heavily dedicated to Microsoft technologies and tools, so I'm no longer abreast on all the other (likely better) options there are out there. That said, I did see this FREE WYSWYG HTML editor that has been highly aclaimed - it looks really easy to use and may give you some good javascript options that will eliminate your dependancy on ActiveX.

Happy trails.
