I know this is not a computer forum but thought someone may be able to answer my questions. We have xplornet sattelite internet set up with a HUGHES HN9000 Modem hooked up to our computer. We have had this setup for about two years when we wanted to also have wireless internet for the laptops, ipods etc. So we purchased a TRENDnet TEW-671BR router and hooked it up to our modem so we could have internet all throughout the house. It worked fine for a month or two then the internet started to really slow down. I unhooked the router at that time and nothing changed. Then a month lader the internet was unusable and would not connect properly. We ended up purchasing a new HUGHES modem and that fixed the problem. So my question is, is that would've the router caused the modem to crator? or is it just from it being 2 years old? would really like to know because would like to connect the router again but do not want the new Modem to go haywire like the other one did? is it possible that the router caused this? Thank You so much for and answers:d

Doubt the router caused the problem, if it's any conciliation I go through modems like crazy...in 2.5 years I went through 3, mind you these are all wireless ready modems. At my old business I went through 2 modems in one year, router was good...I think the modems get so damn hot that they just bake themselves.

I use wireless on 2 systems exactly like you describe and have no problems. (For several years)

I used to be an Xploitnet installer, and it is just the hardware. Router or no router. So no issues hooking up the wireless router to the modem. Not my choice of router you have there, but to all there own. I like the Apple Airport Extreme routers myself...
