using iPhone as modem

Is there an easy way to connect my MacBook Pro to the internet using my iPhone4? I have heard its easy if you have a jailbroken phone, but I dont know how or what other benefits this may have.

Go into settings, general, network, and turn on Internet tethering. Might cost you though depending on what's all on your cell plan. But then plug it into your computer with a USB and on your computer you should be able to choose it as a network

Youll need itunes as well and possibly another program or two, i did anyway, but then again i have a pc. Yours should work pretty seamlessly seein that you have a mac.

You need iTunes on the Mac and you need a carrier that permits tethering (Bell for example). With the latest updates on your phone the tethering is now called Personal Hotspot and is located on the first screen of the Settings screen. I have a 3GS (not jailbroken) that works well.
