Ipad

I was thinking about geting an ipad and i would like to know the pros and cons with ipads. I would snowandmud email mabey some or most of my school work, apps... The other thing is can you get the camra kit usb and then plug in usb items like ipod or CD drive? Also pay for 3G or stay with wifi?
I would more likely go with the ipad2 anyone have it yet?

I still use and love my iPad 64gb wifi+3G (original) and looked at a iPad 2 in a apple store and saw no screen change and only the addition of two cameras (which aren't very good quality) and being thinner are the only differences. If I was in your shoes I would buy the original because it's tougher and CHEAPER a whole 50-100$ cheaper. That savings u could spend on quading or sledding.
But that's my opinion u buy which ever one u want no one is going to stop u.

Ive had my iPad pretty much since they came out. Love it. Using it right now actually. It doesn't replace your lap top though. You can't really do much as far as production on an iPad other than email but it beats the laptop for surfing, music, pictures, video and every thing else fun

great battery life, cheap data plans.

Just bought a iPad 2 64g 3G for the wife and after the first week she is in love with it. I run all macs, Mac book Pro, 24" Imac, iPod touch. Just got to get an iphone but that will also be for the wifey as my phone get's paid by my company:d:d

this came out in 04, and can still kick the iPad's ass anyday
you can easily run Win 7 on it, and and the hardware specs are similar half a decade later

Look... A big I-phone
OOhh wait since I have an i-phone and now an i-pad... I CAN CROSS TALK THEM AND DO ALL KINDS OF CRAZY CHIT..................wait NO!
But oh well.. at least i can open like... excel documents with it from work and look at them..... NO!
Oh wait.. im browing around on the internet.. a cool program I can download for the avalance center....... NO!
but at least it has a keyboard so i can use it in bed and chit... NO!
oh well.. i can bring it to work and use it like a laptop....wait its gotta be layed down becuase its a fawking square! NO!!!!!!
But you know what? at the end of the day at least i can pop in a dvd and watch it... wait NO THERE NO USB DRIVES OR CD DRIVES SO I CANT EVEN PUT A FAWKING MEMORY STICK IN IT FOR PICTURES!

Nay, there is also a faster processor, A5 chip, versus A4.

USB port....Would be an adapter that cost you extra money... Card reader....extra money... crappy little adapters that you plug into the bottom. And he is RIGHT on almost all of what he said there becuase I had one a ditched it the first chance I got... and im pretty sure I even typed that lol... copyrighting MOFO! I just didnt like it....Laptops and way better if you actually going to use them for stuff... Apple has a nice way of keeping you locked into thier little... "apple world". but thats my opinion. For everyone else that just likes surfing the net and stuff they are fine...

I have a desktop to plug all my usb, memory cards and other crap into. I figure this is the ideal use case. Having a desktop and a laptop just seems as redundant as having a laptop and a tablet when all I'm going to use the portable device for is surfing the interwebs and reading stuff.

I went with an iPod Touch just because it's just that much more portable. (And I didn't get an iPhone/Android/etc phone because I already have a cell phone through work.)

Couldn't care less about opening excel documents on it. I have netflix on it, so again, don't care about dvd's (and if something its missing is really bothering you, it might be on itunes to rent anyway), I can type just fine on the touch screen, but I'm not going to write novels in bed anyway. Oh, and the app store is a way better way to find software and keep it up to date than just wandering around to websites on the internet... including the avalanche bulletin app.

Not defending Apple here... the same could be said for BB, Android, WinPhone, etc............. just sadly none of those guys did a small, phone size but phoneless tablet device that wasn't a complete POS.

Agree with most of what you got there...I like having a desktop and a laptop because it would be a son of a $%^&$ to take my laptop to valemount every time I went sledding. When I got it the guy told me it would do a whole bunch of stuff it didnt... It was ABSOLUTLEY not compatible with facebook... i dont care who you are...I wanted it so I could plug my helmet cam into it and watch the video's and pictures and upload them to facebook... It could not do either of those. I asked him if facebook had an app for the i-pad and I dont know if they do yet... But they sure didnt for EVER. They needed an official facebook app... all those half assed ones werent good for anything.
