lol just read that..wow..musta been T.U.I'ing... Typeing under the influence... Lol

Thank god you got the vid up before the vitamin V kicked in! Enjoyed it very much. Had numerous relatives that worked at Mountain Park in the day. They all moved on so none are buried in the cemetery but was a nice stroll through there in 2011. We had camped at Whitehorse Creek campground and drove up to the divide. Went back in March of 2012 for a bit of sledding and was amazed at the change in the MP area. As you say, literally moving mountains.

Yes I would be delighted to have access to the area again for either sled or quadding.

Well with price of coal in the dumps we have no plans of mining back in the redcap area in the near future we're told. So get out n ride those wicked scenic trails while u can. We are still mining the Harris valley though.

For the love of riding! Can someone please send me a GPS trail from a Cadomin staging area up to Ruby Falls. I use Garmin BaseCamp.

I have seen pictures and we would like to make a day trip. However none of us have been there.

they shut atv's out of the area for 10 years to protect it.... for the mine!! after the mine is done there will be no atv access, it will be a park.

Not true. The mine says they are reclaiming the area as we speak. Suposed to be putting quad trails back in etc.
That whole area back there was designated ohv trails but the gov thought we'd all forget about that.

i spent 5 winters up there with my friend Roy who took over his Dads trapline there since the 50s ,we would snowmobile up to his old trailer way up on the edge of the divide.then on towards the hot springs on the old original trail. he sold the trapline about 8 yrs ago and i have not been on those trails since. but have gone back with his son and friends and we unloaded at Fiddlers siding and sledded into his Grandpas cabin.it used to be open.but with the vandelism is all locked and boarded up. too bad. at one time. those cabins were handy to warm up at.make a coffee. and stay overnight if needed. heres a pic of that cabin .and the most important stop of all. lol

Funny how all these cabins get vandalized in Ab, our was burned to the ground. My friends in BC renovate old cabins they find in the bush... Makes you wonder who does it. I have half a mind to say its Fish and Feathers. Who else has the agenda? It sure seems like they don’t want us out there at all.

I have "heard" that in some places the ones you speak of have been known to burn them..

That's a cool old cabin and yes it seems rather "Fishy" it only seems to happen in Alberta. Most of us who spend much time back there figure it's them doing it. Probably to "divide and conquer" us...

ran into an old horse outfitter/guide just after xmas and wegot talking about okd cabins and he seemed to know for fact that is who is burning them down and vandizing them. With all the camera technology these days whoever is doing it will get busted.
It always pissed me off and made no sense why a quader or sledder would do that.
