We just moved from Whitehorse and new to the area. We live west of red deer. Can you let us know where this is? My husband and I would love to go quadding or if possible sledding. Thank you.

i posted this about 2 years ago. If you google 7 mile flat campground it is just west of there. As far as i know they have closed some of the main areas out there so i have not been back. You could try limestone mountain we usually just quad there.

There is no place to call. Sorry. There is also a place called outwest campground that a lot of people go to camp and you can also ride some trails from there. They would have a number to call.

Was out there a couple weeks ago. Be best suited for Side by Siding now as the snow is going fast. The best way to get there from red deer would to be go west of Rocky Mountain House. Corkscrew mountain west of Caroline is not really recommended for vehicles yet. However we park at the base of Corkscrew and just ride the machines up the road in the winter to get to the other side. Also another piece of advice is to check the SRD trail map for the cut off area. If you go west of the staging area on a side by side not all trails are open year round for wheels. If you would like a tour i may be taking a group out next Sunday the 3rd of March. Could show you some of the area.

get a PLUZ map of the area, or you may find yourself with more than a few welcome to Alberta tickets. leave the beer and alcohol back at your campsite. stay on the trails.

i wouldn't say they are bad? more they like showing up when your being dumb, also lots of people out there with camera's taking pics. stay out of the rivers and creeks, no washing atv's in them either. get yourself familiar with the rules, or your pocket will be a bit lighter. BA is .05, your vehicle is confiscated, your licence suspended, until trial. .05 is very little, 1 beer an hour. not worth the trouble at all.

I live and ide out there and have my whole life. I can count on one hand how many times ive been harnessed by the cops on the trails. The key is to avoid areas like that on the long weekends and stick to the lesser know and patrolled areas.

So are you saying if your drinking responsibly they will be good to you?

I'm saying keep it hidden and you will likely never have a problem. If you are getting out of hand then ya you will. I personally don't have beers on the trail anymore because i'm getting old and running out of talent.

Lol. Now that’s funny. Yeah. We’re not spring chickens anymore either. Lol. Thanks for the update!

I would say leave the drinking back at the camp! Our group has been stopped a couple times, quad boxes were searched, forestry have more powers than the RCMP. The last few years they have more people in the field in summer months! Make sure you have all your paper work in order, fire arresters installed! A beer or two generally hurts no one, a dozen may be a different story, go to the forestry site and learn the rules. is my advice. Trails have different time openings/closings. rules are rules, and likely different than whitehorse? Gates are a huge problem, gate is closed, close it when you go through, leave open gates open! PLUZ maps are your friends. picking up trail trash goes a long way in keeping trails open. we have lost a lot of riding area's over the years, and they don't come back!

I agree! It would be nice to go with a group to get to know the area. It’s just the 2 of us. Feel better in numbers. If anyone is up for it please let us know. Thanks for the updates!
