I'm new to the sport too. So far I've been to:
Saunders lake, (south of Beaumont), Best so far. Lost of hills, but a bit short.
Smokey lake Iron Horse trail (went north at first turn, so we were off trail). hit a Utility corrior that when for miles. Not to bad, but a bit monotonous. Good for newbies, packed, hilly and straight.
Red water. THis was very tedious because the trails were nothing but miles of moguls.
Ministik Lake . Its really close to Edmonton, went it late January just after the big snows, and got stuck alot. Had the kids so we just packed down a big circle and rode around and around for 25 miles. Had a great time.
