any owners have issues with this machine? Reading some have problems with the belts??? Is this just a matter of using Low range when needed.

The deal was looking at used rhino's and new Teryx's need 4 seats

this machine belong to a friend he has 800 km on it and he's already done the UTV cage and seat kit... nothing else really done

he's moving out of country... he doesn't know what he wants for a price yet but figures he's into the machine for 20k

any info on machine reliability and tips and tricks not to spin the belt would be appreciated.... hard to pass up a friends machine because i know how it's been looked after...

We have 2 a 12 and a 13 both seem identical 13 has 6000km? 12 has 7500km ish. Both were great on belts till they hit 3500 km then they both went through a couple each in short order. They seem ok now though, running the maverick belts and they are better. 13 had power steering which is nice for sure.

No major problems to speak of.. a couple of cv's and a steering rack at 6000km on the 12.

My personal opinion I would not pay more than 13-14000.

The belt issue is primarily from not using low range, and it is easy not to, because they have plenty of power rarely do you need to shift down. But it is way easier on belts when you do.

great advise thank you for taking the time... i heard from the owner there is mod to the secondary clutch that helps... my wife will be driving this with 3 boys under 4 im thinking low will be perfect for her in all conditions... it's a very nice machine... well taken care of and serviced and of course i know for a fact its never been drowned

we are moving back to bc this machine will see very little mud mostly just rocky overgrown logging roads that are now atv trails

Commander Replacement Springs for OEM shocks

I dont have these but have heard they are a night and day difference.

Absolutely! I also installed their 2" lift bracket kit that stands the shocks more upright and the ride quality increase was way more than I expected. The OEM springs are complete and udder garbage, and my machine was only 6 months old at the time.

On the 2012 check for a fuel leak on the front mounting tab on the fuel tank (cracks, fixed on newer machines) and the rad hose rubbing through on the bottom of the passenger side engine cover (near floor board at front edge of seat).

I have a 2012 1000 XT (build date of feb '12) and don't have either of those issues, but the belt cover does rub a flange underneath. if not addressed it will rub a hole thru the cover and let water in. there are some differences between the early build '12 models and mine, they must have made some changes mid production.

I think you're allowed 8'6" in AB, your commander will be just shy of 10' sitting sideways on the trailer (unless it has the extreme bumpers, then it's just over 10"). the wheelbase is 76" so it will fit that way, seen a lot of stuff loaded on trailers like that so I doubt you would get hassled.

as for grief....mine has had the front diff go out and was replaced on warranty, rear sway bar bolts sheared off a month out of warranty (replaced the stock 10mm bolts with the '13 model 12mm), and the rear diff is now making a terrible sound and is not long for this world.

also, I broke a tie rod end bolt this summer. 2013 tie rod ends and bolts were upgraded to 12mm also.

No Problem at all,.... I thought he wanted that with all the addons, , but yes if your going to spend 5 k on a new trailer , mb spend a couple more on a covered trailer, ... do check out door height if your going that way.

Thanks was looking at covered trailers... i will be needing a deck over there is my problem... my grand parents cabin is a goat trail to get to... lots of deep ups and downs... deck over seem not to touch so far!

just an update... waiting on a price... this thing is mint though... never parked outside over night... very nice machine.... he's selling his house as we speak... im guessing he is waiting either for hunting season to start or see how much money he makes on his house

yeah, I'm a sucker for BRP. no matter what anyone tells you, they all have their problems. with the new diff ($874) I will still be ahead on repair spending compared with my bud's rzr xp and my other bud's wildcat (he just dropped another 2 grand in repairs on his). the big difference is mine has never been towed home. it's the fastest side by side with a dump box lol
