My wife has found mud ( I know ....good but bad...lol), so thinking of putting my stock 800r primary clutch on my wifes 500 and giving her the 28 silverbacks. I know it is weighted and sprung heavier, so thinking this would be a better option than clutching hers. Also if needed can always go up to Dalton clutch kit if needed. Does anybody know if my thinking is right or am I on my own on this???

Also any problems with the 28s on the gen 1 frame??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Spacers or offset rims and tires will be fine as far as clutching maybe pm daveb he seems pretty knowledgeable in that area

The 800 clutch is weighted waaaay too heavy for the 500. If there is nothing wrong with the sttock clutch, put a Dalton clutch kit in it...set it up for big tires. The Backs will work, but will make it harder for her to steer and kill power...I personally like a light mud tire like a Zilla or a Mudbug.

Edit: 28's will be tight on the Gen1 500 (and 400) due to their slightly different front end from the 650/800....the tire will get real tight in the front inner fender under compression when turning. I had 27's on my wifes 400 and they fit good. (if you have the 28' mounted already, test fit 'em).

Gotta love when someones been through it already................. Thanks for the answers gentleman. Shes already running 27 inch xtrs with spacers so looks like the plan will work. Will look for the red epi and go from there. Frees mine up for 29.5 inch outlaws and 1 inch spring spacers.......
