Have any of you done any river riding? I have rode the Athabasca around Drayton Valley on Sea Doo and am wondering if anyone has rode the North Sask in Edmonton and area? It would be a short 5 min drive from home. I know it's not the cleanest water around but a ride is a ride.:d

I would use caution if riding the rivers with a fiberglass hull, one rock and your Seadoo will be sinking to the bottom, there are alot of lakes around the edmonton area to ride on, I wouldn't risk it on the river.

I used to race Jetskis (standup) and we used to practice in the river at least once a week. If you ride from the launch at Laurier Park don't go west it gets shallow. Its not bad to the east. I've put my Seadoo in if the river is high. Just watch the river if its high in the launch you should be ok. Just get to the shower quick after LOL.

And try to stay away from the rowing club they hate PWC's already. They think the river is theirs.

I have never put mine in the river because of the silt, is this not hard on seals and impeller?

Rowing club? Sounds like a challenge! (just kidding) I have been in contact with a local jet boat tour company and they said it should be fine to ride just be careful. I will be installing a depth gage to get an idea of whats there. I don't plan to take a spill, but if I do I will definitely keep my mouth shut!

We used 8 to 10 foot ropes on the bouys we put in and they all touched bottem LOL. I never had pump seal problems? Mind you my pump was in and out at least once a season (Kawi pumps aren't as hard to pull as the Doo pumps). The raft race for Capital X used to be a good time for PWC's until the fish Cops put a stop to the fun. One or two bad apples ruined it for all again.

Do the fish cops hassle you all the time? I did fire off an Email to the city parks and rec on bylaws but they haven't replied yet.

No the only time I saw the Fish cops was the raft race. The city police and the fire dept have came down and watched and shot the sh!t with us, never asked for Boat cards or anything. They seemed to be more interested in the boats than legal stuff. Its a good quick ride if you don't have time to go to a lake. Most of the time we rode Mon-Fri after work, weekends were at the lake.

He is correct there is nothing but rock on the bottem so be careful or bring lots of $$$$$$. Seadoo boats sit a lot lower in the water then sitdowns. I wouldn't run a Seadoo boat in the river too much $$$ to risk.

hey fabba what kind of boat you got, we launch at 50th street after work all the time usually go as far as rafters landing on week nights float down a ways have a couple beer. usually bring a bucket of chicken from kfc it's like getting out of the city for the evening i love it we have a 19ft marathon sport jet with the 240 the thing rocks. our lake is just east of elk point so in past years in the spring when the river is high we drive the boat all the way to heinsburg it is about a 5-6hr tour that is a fun journey there is some spots with rapids just this side of heinsburg can't wait for summer maybe see you out there.

I used to race a Sxr 800 Kawi Jetski LTD but I sold it last year to buy my first boat. Its a 97 Moomba Outback I bought on E-bay and drove to South Carolina to pick it up. I think I'm retired from the river you won't catch me with a direct drive boat on the river:nono: The guys I used to race with I'm sure will be out this year as always, but if I'm there it will be on a borrowed ride.

It was always fun to go ripping around the river. All the people walking down in the river vally always looked surprised to see people on the river.

I ride the N. Sask all the time. i will take you on a tour if you so desire. i will be waiting for the water level to rise first. should be good to go by the end of the month. the river can be a great adventure, have spend a few years learning some of the do's and don'ts, at some expense! the last couple of years i have gone with no incidents.

We were on the river yesterday. Went from fort sask to groat bridge, with just a couple of spots to be careful. It would be nice to have a inlet grate with narrower openings so only smaller rocks would enter. Do anyone know if these are available.
thanks calvin

I wouldn't mind riding with some of you one day on the north sask.

Smaller intake grates will likely result in cavitation and poor performance,
