Was planning a kodiak 5.3 or 6.2DI for winter build, found out the side Mounted heat exchanger is too tall to fit and I don’t want a raised engine cover.

objective light weight, decent power, turn key kind of leaves me in a pickle, not touching the eco boost as way too many problems, so thinking either a zz6 efi, sp383 efi, or figure out how to deal with fly by wire throttle on an ls3. Flex plate, raw water cooling, kodiak headers.

Any other power plant suggestions appreciated, will be in front of an sd309.

Move the heat exchanger.

I'm not sure if the raptor motors would fit. But hard to go to back to cast iron block and multi port injector from the aluminum block and DI that GM offers.

What hull is this going into?

Not 100% on hull yet looking at three different ones, the one I like the most is the one it won’t fit, for some reason they were a bit negative in relocating the heat exchanger idea, not sure why as I agree that’s doable I’d think. Maybe the manifolds sit too high as well.

raptor motors are steel black and heads I think.... they old ford 6.2 and heavy.

I would try to remote mount the heat exchanger if possible. The 6.2DI is pretty hard to beat for power and fuel economy. What boat you looking at that it won’t fit? Seen lots of boats out there with those motors and non have issues fitting.
