Anyone here use a V-drive or a direct drive boat on Gull Lake....

Two years in a row, I've taken our Malibu to Gull Lake to the relitive's lake lot, and both years the drive shaft gets strangled with weeds...

On top of the weeds this year I manged to find rocks heading into the boat launch...

We used the public launch middle of the lake on the west side....

Spent most of the time in the middle of the lake, damn weeds sucks the power out of the 5.7L....

Two years ago, I wasn't sure what was going on, so we pulled the boat out of the water, this year I swam under the boat and pulled the weeds off....

Going to have to pull the prop off, straighten one blade and file them all...another winter project.

Never had a problem at Gull. We always launch on the east side at DeGraff. There’s a bad low spot on the north east side of the lake close to Meridian beach. Gull lake is probably down 3’ because the blocked the inlet to stop Carp coming in.

Carp? Is this true?
This is the beach now. Water is way down. The boat launch was blocked off due to low water and had a sign saying they had damned off one of inlets to stop Carp from entering the lake. Not sure if any have been found in the lake or not.

Holy Smokes! We build DeGraffs for Glenn, and have built all of Meridian for Norval. Been awhile since I’ve been on Gull... where are the carp coming from?

Prussian carp[/h]
ep-invasive-species-prussian-carp.jpg

The Prussian carp is a species of wild goldfish that has been illegally released into various waterbodies in Alberta. This invasive fish species has established breeding populations across the province, and presents a serious threat to local aquatic ecosystems and native fish habitats. In Canada, Prussian carp has only been found in Alberta and Saskatchewan.Catch it, kill it – if you catch Prussian carp while angling, please kill it and either take it home to eat or properly dispose of it in the garbage.

In-laws have place on northeast side that low spot by pelican point should have some indicators as it’s begging to destroy someone’s boat. Defiantly no lack of weeds out there that’s for sure really noticeable when trying to fish on the shelf’s if you get into centre of lake or beyond 8+ feet of water weeds generally are better.

Be careful on the East side...

I know it's not to far from Wilson's beach,,, the under water point run out into the lake is called Point Peel-eee...

Lots of folks that are not familiar with the lake smash into with the out-board legs,,, its pretty easy to run the prop into this year with the low Lake levels...

Cheers from the North

Sounds like something that should have a hazard buoy attached to it.

Is it south or north of Wilson’s?
