So I’m wondering what you guys are packing for spare parts. I know we don’t have all the same motors and pumps but there must be some common stuff to pack on the boat. Maybe a small plastic tote designated for this stuff. Any pics, or info would be great.

Other than the typical safety stuff I carry a full tool kit, ratchets, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers for every fastener I can thing of on the boat, I also carry a liter of engine oil and a spare set of spark plugs. On a long trip I throw in a spare impeller and wear ring and the tools to change it. But my boat is small so I don't have room to carry much more than this.

Preventive maintenance plays a huge role in not needing spare parts, I have a mental checklist every time the boat goes in the water, I check twice to make sure it is unstrapped from the trailer, the key is in the boat, the plug is in the boat (I don't care how good your bilge pump is, it isn't good enough for this) the steering linkage is connected and functions full lock to lock, I open the fuel caps to make sure the tanks are full (don't live by the fuel gauge), check the engine oil, I have a look in the back of the pump to make sure the impeller and stator look good, and check the grate for obstructions and bent bars.

I don’t pack as much I should. But I carry a spare fuel pump. Some fuses and basic wrench and socket set. And fire starter. I pack lots of rope and push poles for when you get stuck.

depends on the pump/motor package for sure. some need very little, some are troublesome... Fresh jerry can of premium, bit of oil, fuel pump, relays, little bit of hose and wire, socket set, wrenches, pliers, pry bar etc... the likelihood of me pulling my bowl/steering to get a rock out of the impeller is small, as my hand hole is welded up... I've done some LOOOONG floats lol. the key to success is knowing your rig well and having it healthy to leave the launch. PM PM PM

You bet. I found a good compact tool kit with most of the essentials. Got some coolant and oil. I found a box under one of the seats. It was hiding under the bimini. Had a new coil, oil filter and fuel seperator. Got the oil changed and all greased up yesterday. Was a great day to wipe things down and get to know the boat. Found the ATP manual for my pump so I printed it off and read it over. Totally different animal than a prop drive, which is all I’ve ever known being from the east. Kids are pretty excited so that makes a guy feel good.

I don’t think most guys would consider this as a essential item to have on board but, I am usually running rivers solo, as in the only boat. My boat is fairly heavy at 2400 lbs, therefore I pack a Honda gas powered winch. And it gets used. Too often!!

Neil. I’m thinking you spend some time checking out the sidelines with your boat Bahahaha. Wicked. Love it. I also love the thought of the winch.

I’ve been known to take a back channel or two lol. I have been real fortunate not to be stuck real bad. I always had enough people around to push me out.

carb 350/309 I pack a couple liters of oil, spare filter, fuel filter, fuel pump with fittings and wire connectors on it so its a quick swap, plugs, starter, alternator(with pully mounted), belts, some random hose, gorilla tape, "mechanics wire", tool kit, grease gun, all my tools and spare parts fit in my pelican case (pelican 1600) so everything is dry and ready to go. Preventative maint is key with these boats but once in a while a guy finds himself doubling as captain and engineer

I have a couple buddy’s with outlaws. They both carry spare starters and alternators. And they have used them.
