Just wrapped up AST1 with FPSS In valemount and that was really awesome and informative. I found out lots of good info and mostly how much I like using my Tracker2. During the beacon tracking portion where we had five different scenarios, I hit my target with my probe on the first attempt 3 out of five times. It's very accurate, it's fast and SP mode is great,if you know how to use it! All around awesome beacon and I would recommend it to anybody.

It's quick because it is simple. It tends to have less range and be difficult to use well in multiple burial situations even with the SP mode. Any beacon practice I do with single burial I am usually the first to find it but have to be on my game for multiples. Probably upgrading to a Pieps Sport next season.

I'm sure we could argue this one for a long time. I wouldn't call that a poor review if you read it. I think it's nothing more than personal opinion. One guy in our group had a pulse for his beacon and by FAR it had a much further radius than the other nine of us in our AST1 group, however after using it in real life scenarios he doesn't like it because it's way slower than some other ones. In a game where seconds count I want the guy who can find me and get me out the fastest, not the guy who had the most gizmos on his beacon. My opinion is based off of actual personal experience, using actual beacons in situations as close to the real thing as it gets, not some website based information.

Practice makes perfect. If you know how to use your transiever well that makes it good. The pulse is not slower... Watching people in group scenarios with there trackers just take off it the total wrong direction on some flux line they picked up on to circle back 10' from where they started is not saving time the mammut with the multiple burial feature will out shine a tracker any day. Just pay attention to what these teachers and Avalanche professionals are using! There not trackers. Imo trackers are bottom of the line transceiver and sure there great to start out with and yes I've seen people run a tracker better the the other guy with the pieps or mammut, ect. but that's not the transeiver it's the operator. A well trained opertaor will out shine Any tracker
