Huh,that is weird, mine goes quite a long time, and even forgot it on overnight a few times and that barely used any juice.

If I go sledding for 5 days in a row, I bring 9 batteries with me. 3 in the beacon, 3 for spares, and 3 just in case

I get close to a whole season almost outta my tracker 2. Usually change at 40% or so but this year is different. Only rode twice so far. Think it's around 90% if I remember right

That's cutting it close at 40% battery life! it's fine in transmitting mode but goes thru a bit more battery once it's in search mode. I change mine at 80 % but each to there own

I can ride a week long trip and still be just over 80 percent, myself i change them out once there down to 80% ,just a personal prefrence as batteries are cheap and i would hate to have them go down in a time of need.

Specs on battery life for DTS Tracker 2:
  • Batteries: three AAA alkaline
  • Battery life: minimum 1 hour in search mode after 200 hours in transmit mode (approximately 250 hours in transmit only or 50 hours in search only)
Trashy 668 you should look at getting your's fixed if you go through batteries as frequently as you do.

Here are results of tests done on various transceivers: http://www.rescuedynamics.ca/articles/pdfs/BatteryLife.pdf

On the DTS Tracker 2 at 60% battery at -10C you can search for 8 hours and at 40% at -10C you can search for 5 hours.
Also note type of batteries recommended in the article: (Do NOT use rechargeable batteries, NiMH, NiOx, Li-Ion or anything with a bizarreacronym (stuff like Ultra Digital, PowerPix, Lithium or e2 Titanium power, etc)

I think I get about 8-10 rides out of my tracker 2. But I've left it on for weeks on end and that really hoops the batteries . Try some diff brands of batteries maybe.

I used mine about 6-7 times last year with new batteries, just getting my stuff ready last night for this years season including new batteries. Old ones from last year were in all summer and showed 77% when I turned it on. I usually pull batteries out for the summer but forgot this time.
