Ask taminator. But pretty sure you can ride the road to silent pass. Just before the trail into the trees that's as far as you would go I would think. I would like to see it this summer to. And forester
Make sure you have that road frequency in your radio

Quartz has a sign that says where you have to stop and walk. But I don't remember a sign at silent pass

didn't make it up into the alpine on the trail, as it was still deep snow in the trees. would suggest middle to late august. not sure how far you would make it into the lake area's. would need more info from the forestry as i was understanding that the alpine was off limits. we had a good time, lots of 4x4 truck traffic up there, a clown in a jeep drove up to the cabin, through the swamp, made a mess. what is new.

rode mostly overgrown forestry roads in the area, was ok, seen a few bears so be careful. the mcmurdo cabin is a little different in the summer, did a bit of hiking in the area. we asked at a few shops in town but no one really had any idea, or were not saying. have a good trip, lots of roads to explore.

Resurrecting an old thread here...
Ive been out sledding in golden for years, but never really spent much time there in the summer. Looking for some information about where to go dry camp and ride from the doorstep. Preferably somewhere on the west side of town, so if we wanted to go golfing it would be a shorter drive...?
any help would be appreciated.... thanks!
