Resurrecting an old thread here...
Ive been out sledding in golden for years, but never really spent much time there in the summer. Looking for some information about where to go dry camp and ride from the doorstep. Preferably somewhere on the west side of town, so if we wanted to go golfing it would be a shorter drive...?
any help would be appreciated.... thanks!

One idea might be Gorman. Dry camp up in the parking lot, then run around on all the little logging spurs. There is a limit to how far up the FSR you can go with the "no wheeled vehicles in the alpine" rule. Load 'em up one day and buzz up Mount 7 for a nice view as well.

This puts you as close as can be to golf too!

That’s kind of what I was thinking ..... just don’t know how much riding there is from there, mind you I have one little guy on a small bike, so a few trips up some side roads, and down the west bench road might be enough for him for the weekend.
Can a guy access both Gorman/Holt and the west bench trail? Never been on the bench trail?

Hello there,
I am not familiar with how it goes and looks in the summer time - it's on the to do list though! Maybe someone else can chime in and offer some pointers.
Cheers!
